'Love that lingers in the dusty sunsets'

Step into the heart of rural Australia, where love is tender, time is slow, and the horizon holds more than just the promise of tomorrow.

The why behind the words: In this love-starved world, so many of us—especially women—are quietly aching for connection. At the very centre of who I am, beneath the layers I show the world, I know this truth: I was made for love. Real, deep, soul-stirring love. The kind that doesn't flinch at my mess or run from my darkness. The kind that sees me—truly sees me—and stays. I think most women feel it, this silent hunger. We long for someone we can trust completely, someone who won’t pull away when we show them the worst parts of ourselves—the brokenness, the shame, the dreams we’ve buried so deep we hardly remember them anymore. We want someone who will hold our secrets like sacred things and never, ever turn them into weapons. Someone who will choose us, again and again, not in spite of who we are, but because of it. And when we can’t find that in our real lives—when the man we hoped would be our safe place turns cold, or indifferent, or just… absent—we turn to stories. We find refuge in the pages of romance novels because, in them, we find the love we still dare to hope for. The kind of love we secretly wonder if we’ll ever be lucky enough to feel in the real world. Romance fiction isn’t just a fantasy. For many women, it’s a lifeline. It’s a reminder that love like that might exist. That maybe, just maybe, someone out there is capable of looking past the surface—the tired eyes, the stretch marks, the Armor we wear just to survive—and seeing something breathtaking. We don’t read romance because we’re naive. We read it because we’re brave enough to still believe. We believe in the possibility of being loved wholly—mess and all. We believe in a man who will cherish us not only when we’re dolled up, but also when we’re undone—raw, crying, vulnerable. We crave a love that holds us close in our ugliest moments and whispers, You’re still beautiful to me. We want more than just passion—we want presence. Consistency. Truth. We want to be someone’s person. Their choice. Their forever. And the truth is, we’ve wanted that since we were little girls. We dressed up in princess gowns not just because we liked the sparkle, but because we dreamed of a prince who would fight for us, who would see us as precious, as worth the journey. We grew up, but that dream never really left us. It just got quieter. Men… they want the same thing too, I think. To be the hero. To be enough. To be loved, fully, without needing to wear the mask of strength all the time. We’re all walking through this life carrying the same ache. The same longing. We all just want our own happily ever after. Until that day comes, it’s the romance author who steps in. Who breathes life into characters that give us something to hold on to. Something to believe in. A love so tender, so wild, so true that it makes us feel, just for a little while, like we’re not alone in our longing. Like maybe… love really is worth waiting for.

In The Press

"A love story that didn’t just entertain me—it healed something in me."

I picked this book up because I was aching for something real—and what I found was a story that wrapped itself around my heart. The setting was so vividly rural, so beautifully Australian, I could smell the dust and feel the sunlight. But more than that, the love story felt like a balm. Tender, raw, and honest. It reminded me that even when life breaks us, love can still find a way in.

"This book reminded me why I still believe in forever."

I haven’t cried like that over a book in years. It was like reading a letter I didn’t know I needed. The love story in River Flats is about more than chemistry—it's about choosing each other over and over, even when it’s hard. Sheryl M writes with so much heart, it leaks off the page.

- Jodie

"For every woman who's ever felt forgotten—this book sees you."

The characters felt like people I knew. The kind of people who bury their pain under silence and keep showing up anyway. This story gently pulled me in and gave me hope that someone, somewhere, might still love me like that—with all my mess and memories. This isn't just romance—it's soul fiction.

- Melody

From the first chapter, I was swept into a world that felt achingly familiar. The quiet strength of the heroine, the slow-burn romance, the way the land became a character all on its own—it was like reading about a life I once dreamed of. Sheryl M understands the ache so many of us carry, and somehow, through her words, makes it feel seen and soothed.

There’s something about this book that stayed with me long after I turned the final page. Maybe it was the small-town tenderness, or the way love was portrayed—not flashy, but steadfast. The kind that waits. This story isn’t just about finding someone, it’s about being found when you least expect it, and maybe when you need it most.

Advocate for storytelling to heal the heart

“Not just a romance, but a quiet revolution of the heart.”

Sheryl M doesn’t write fairy tales—she writes the kind of love stories that feel lived-in. This book made me cry in the best way, not because it was sad, but because it touched something tender in me. If you’ve ever felt like your story wasn’t worth telling, read this book. It will change your mind.

About the Author

Sheryl M - Author

Sheryl M is a true romantic at heart—one who believes that even in the shadow of heartbreak, love always finds a way. Nestled in a small rural town in Queensland, Australia, Sheryl draws inspiration from the golden fields, quiet roads, and the enduring spirit of country life. Her stories are steeped in nostalgia and emotion, capturing the ache for love, connection, and healing that so many women quietly carry.

After facing her own personal heartbreak, Sheryl turned to writing as a lifeline—a way to stitch her story back together and return to the land and community that shaped her. What began as a private act of healing soon blossomed into a series of soul-stirring rural romance novels, where love grows in dusty paddocks and resilience is born under wide, open skies.

Through her writing, Sheryl offers her readers more than just romance—she gives them hope. Hope that love can be tender and true, even when life is messy. Hope that our stories matter. And above all, hope that no one is ever truly alone in their longing for love that stays.
